Community Programs

Bay Area Connect runs a variety of outreach programs to empower residents with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to participate fully in the digital world.

1. Community Connectivity Clinics

We host drop-in sessions where residents can learn about affordable internet plans, government subsidies (like ACP alternatives), and digital literacy basics. These clinics are offered in partnership with libraries, community centers, and local schools.

2. Neighborhood Wi-Fi Assessments

We deploy volunteers and student interns to survey signal strength, access points, and broadband options in targeted neighborhoods. Findings are shared publicly to help local governments prioritize infrastructure upgrades.

3. Digital Empowerment Workshops

We offer workshops on online safety, telehealth access, remote work tools, and online learning. Where possible, we provide devices and hotspot loaners to participants.

4. Community Tech Fairs

We collaborate with local ISPs, device refurbishers, and nonprofits to host events offering free or low-cost equipment, training, and repair services.

5. Local Ambassador Program

We train local residents as "Digital Ambassadors"—trusted messengers who help others get online, troubleshoot issues, and navigate services.

6. Connectivity Mapping Hackathons

We partner with local universities and tech companies to host hackathons where teams analyze connectivity gaps using open data and community input.

Storytelling and Advocacy Campaigns

We collect and share stories about how internet access (or lack thereof) affects education, small business, healthcare, and more. These narratives support our advocacy for policy and funding that bridges the digital divide.

Your story matters. If you've experienced the impact of connectivity—or the lack of it—we'd love to hear from you.
